description: Send a message to a chumby device from your web browser. Visit the Send2Chumby URL shown in the widget to send a text based message. Tap the screen to cycle through the last 10 messages sent to your chumby. NOTE: This widget will NOT auto refresh. You must include at least one other widget in the channel, or two Send2Chumby widgets back to back.

This app cannot be previewed online.

Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

I just revived using this app for first time since Chumby service is back. It is working just fine again. This is used to send brief messages to elderly parents just let them know are thinking of them. Thanks so much for send2chumby!

It sounds like your widget is outdated. Try refreshing the your channel. The updated url is shown in widget. The chumtopia url is no longer valid.

Is this app now defunct? The URL doesn't work and when I try to do a whois lookup on chumtopia.com it shows as no longer being registered. Can anyone shed any light on this?

This is a very nice app, and it's fun to send messages to the family from work. One thing I've noticed is that it HTML-encodes special characters during submittal, but doesn't decode them before they hit the screen. If I send: I'm happy to see you it comes up on Chumby as I'm happy to see you

I cannot get this app to work with the Sony Dash. It loads on the device and gives me a URL, but nothing I enter at that URL appears on the Dash.

Send2Chumby is working properly again. @jenjude: You can also use http://www.chumby.com/guide/widget/Text.simple which would allow you to drop the message in on the spot. -dev

@jenjude - you get the customer URL from the chumby device itself. So in able to suprise your wife, you would need to be able to view the app on your wife's chumby to write down the URL. Then whenever you want to send a message to her chumby just use the URL in any web browser. UPDATE - There is currently an issue with this app. We will be getting in touch with the developer to get this resolved quickly. -chumby support

I'm confused. If I want to send a message to my chumby at home when I'm work, to send my wife a "hello Honey" note, why doesn't it give me the Send2Chumby URL from which to send the message when I'm adding the app? I'm at work, the chumby is on and running apps at home, I wanted to add the app from work and surprise her. But I can't find the URL...

I love this. My parents are able to send me fun/positive messages everyday.

@grantb4 - I will provide that option as well. The URL provides more flexibility by allowing outside parties to message a chumby whom you may not want to have access to your entire chumby.com account.

I like it but it would be better if I could customize the string from the Chumby.com dashboard.

  • develephant

    – June 03 2011

Well it's based on the chumby user id, but 2 different chumbies under my same "user" account are showing different messages. So I guess you would need to test first on your specific device(s). -dev

Great work, keep it up. We have had customers asking for something like this. Quick question is the URL provided from the app, device or chumby.com account specific? -chumby support
