Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

I receive error, "error opening mailbox." Customization only asks for username and password so I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong.

Lucca, I use this widget every morning and find very occasionally that my Gmail settings become defaulted. Please go to your Gmail settings > forwarding and pop/imap. Check - Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on When messages are accessed with POP - Keep gmails copy in the inbox Click Save changes. Send yourself a test email to your gmail account. Reload the channel on your chumby an you will see new emails again.

I actually liked this at first, but now it doesn't seem to want to update. It's a shame, because it was a nice way to at least check my email in the morning. :(

It's nice to have a tailor-made Gmail widget, but there are several improvements that could be made. First, showing more than 5 messages and allowing for scrolling through them would be helpful. Also, there should be an option to turn off showing "sent" messages -- most users only want to read what's coming in, not what we sent out.

could you make one for chat

Developer: You should either address major concerns, or just pull the Widget entirely. We are all persistently asking for basic features, like using a full email address as Google Apps requires, rather than just the username portion that assumes a gmail.com suffix. This is a one-minute task for you to fix. If you don't plan on supporting the Widget anymore, than just pull it.

It is very disappointing that this widget does not seem to be able to handle non-ASCII encoded mail.

I too would like to see this allow entering full e-mail addresses. I can't check my google apps mail account with this because you force login-name only.

I have the same problem as xtalker. If I go back into gmail and "Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on." it works for a little while, but then it only shows old messages again and doesn't update anymore.

How did you get it to work, what did you do to settings.

  • zapp

    – June 07 2008

Please make full email addresses possible as login names. Google Apps requires this and it should be possible to use this widget w/o any change. Zapp

ReflexNPG - This widget is not currently set up to handle Gmail-for-Domains users. You'll have to use the generic email widget: http://www.chumby.com/guide/widget/E-Mail%20Viewer with settings: mail server: pop.gmail.com port: 995

    * FAQ - HELP * If you are only seeing old messages, log in to your Gmail account and follow these steps: 1. Go to your Settings. 2. Select the 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' tab. 3. In the 'POP Download' section, select "Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on." 4. In the 'When messages are accessed with POP' section, select "keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox."

  • broll

    – February 01 2008

Have you gotten any mail from that point forward? That's probably why it's blank. You can also try marking it for 'all mail'.
