Daily Dilbert Cartoons
by sadler (community developer)popularity rank: 6
description: Daily Dilbert cartoons, plus previous 5 or 6 days. From the official dilbert.com RSS feeds. Double height cartoon strips are skipped, so you may notice some missing days as you look through.
Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

I believe that Dilbert.com modified the RSS feed for the cartoon, but there are some workarounds. Is there any chance of getting this widget updated? It was a great app and very popular in my house.

@Plank - which device are you trying to run the app on? I just verified that this app is working correct on a chumby one and classic. Feel free to come see us in support (http://www.chumby.com/pages/help_support). -chumby support

Stopped updating again for the last 10 days or so. What causes this exactly?

Stuck on December 7 -> 13; interestingly the embedded demo widget on this web page has exactly the same problem, so its not just me...

Hasn't updated for a few days. Can it be updated with new clips?

Ok, this is now hosted by a reliable service - I am hoping that there will be no further problems.

Yes, I see that it is still not keeping up to date reliably. I have started the process of moving this to a more reliable provider, this may take a day or 2 to settle down. I am working on it, sorry for the disruption

Hey - I guess you know that there have been no new comics for 5 days (I think). Love your work and love this widget!

I have changed the way in which I keep the feed up to date, hopefully this should resolve the issue. As stated in the widget description, double height cartoons are skipped - so there will be the occasional gap.

it seems that my free hosting service is playing up with feed updates. I will look into the as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay

I like the idea, but the Widget doesn't work that well for me. On January 23rd the "newest" comic it displays still is the one from two days ago (although dilbert.com is up to date). Also the strip of Sunday never shows up (e.g. last week there were Jan. 15, 16, 18 - no 17). Bug or intention?

i have uploaded a new version that should be working ok now

looks like they have changed their crossdomain.xml - blocking access to rss feed to flash - i will look at using yahoo pipes to get this working again.

I haven't been able to load this widget for several days now. Is there a problem?
sadler

Ok, a version with a 'frame' selector is now available, this lets you go to whichever frame you like and pauses the scrolling.

Thanks for the feedback, I will work on another version to add the control you'd like to see. I will not replace the scrolling, but will add extra controls.

Agree with that comment. Maybe use chumby's "flick" technology?

It's a good idea, but I think it would be a *lot* better if you could manually control which panel is showing.
