description: This widget displays "ANSI scrollers" that have been converted to PNG or JPG. Use the touch screen to slide the image up or down, or tilt the chumby back and forth to accelerate the scroll effect. You can customize this widget to point to any JPG or PNG image (doesn't have to be ANSI, but ANSIs are 1337); the widget will work with any images that have heights exceeding 240 pixels. Although the widget will resize images on the fly, for optimal performance you should ensure that your source images have a maximum width of 320 pixels.

Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

"I've posted the source code for this widget and the configuration movie here - http://files.chumby.com/source/widgets/ansiscroller/chumby_ansiscroller.zip" -- hi ksteele, how did you do that? is this officially supported? Could be a great way of sharing widget code...

I believe I talked to ksteele at 20 goto 10 (I assume it was you). Let me know what you need to make this widget more full featured by leveraging Sixteen Colors and I would be glad to help. I believe we discussed some possibilities, but I'm not sure if we ironed out what you would need.

pointing it to one image is not what i'm looking for. i was hoping for it to rotate several nice artworks , not just one ...

There was a problem with the resizing code that prevented non 320 pixel wide images from being displayed. This widget should now work with PNG images from http://sixteencolors.net (or any other site).

Wow very cool to see some ansi art scene links in the chumby community. I'm having trouble getting this widget to work, though, with any image. I'm guessing maybe it's a crossdomain issue? Just went to sixteencolors.net again and discovered it has some life again. If there's any way to integrate this widget with sixteencolors.net or at least make it possible to load images from there, I'd be really happy. Maybe talk to Doug about it?

I'm trying to get it to work with the .PNGs over at the sixteencolors.net site but for some reason they're not loading. For example: http://sixteencolors.net/packs/acdu0794/largethumb/SO-DSUN2.ANS.png Any idea what the problem might be?

buZz - you can configure the widget to point to any PNG or JPG image by clicking the 'customize' link once you've added the widget to a channel.

Great plugin - i've put some fotos in one big foto-file and use it as a picture-slideshow :) Can you do a horizontal-scrolling version? Would be cool to have a "panorama-scroller"! ;)
