UPB Home Automation Controller

description: This app is used with a Web Mountain Technologies RUC (Remote Universal Controller) as a simple, yet effective User Interface to control your lights and appliances. In order to use this app to control your lights and appliances, you MUST have a RUC v57 or higher, a Web Mountain SPIM-01 Powerline Interface Module, and UPB light switches and control modules as you desire. The app provides 40 buttons that you can use to control any UPB device or groups of devices (using UPB links). These 40 buttons on the app correspond to the 40 buttons used on the RUC Control Panel. UPB is a powerline carrier technology, meaning that control signals are carried over the powerline network in your home, so no new wiring is needed. To use UPB, you will need to replace existing wall switches or use plug in control modules. To learn more about UPB and see what devices are available, visit www.webmtn.com and www.digitalavnew.com. Contact information for Web Mountain can be found at either site.
Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

Responding back to Joseph. It's hard to tell you the test results - it just works. When you press a button on the screen, it causes an action to occur. However, the action that occurs is generated by our Remote UPB Controller, not from the app itself. All the app does is tell the Controller to send the command signal. This app is intended to be used with an existing or new UPB home automation installation so there is some investment required, not only in money, but in time (if you're not already familiar with UPB). To find out more about UPB, visit www.digitalavnew.com and click on Home Automation products. We have many existing UPB installations across the US and many of these users have been requesting a more attractive desktop controller and user interface. This app is intended to address that request. The Chumby / Dash / Insignia units are inexpensive, powerful, and very attractive user interface devices - exactly what many users are looking for. We have an application note that provides details on how a user would setup the app with the Web Mountain equipment in order to use the app to control their lights and appliances. This app note is not yet posted on our website, so if you want a copy, send an email to [email protected] and we'll get you a copy. Thanks for the question - Terry.
