WMATA Alerts

description: This widget displays the WMATA Metro Rail Alerts RSS feed for the Washington DC Metro. UPDATE: Main text is now scrollable; tap near top and bottom of text for scrolling up and down. I am not affiliated with WMATA, but this widget uses their public Metro Rail Alerts Feed. Also see the new WMATA Metro Bus Alerts widget, just uploaded for 2009.
Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

@Gpeng : This message has been consistent on the WMATA website since June 22. If there is no other alert, then the only one you see is the system-wide advisory. However, if there are other alerts, the widget will rotate through them like normal. There is nothing broken in the widget or WMATA RSS feeds, as far as I can tell. It's all due to the persistent advisory WMATA has issued since the June 22 collision on the Red line. (Also, the June 29 date for this alert reflects the day WMATA put the static item into their RSS feed. Other alerts for other lines come and go in the RSS feed, but this one stays the same date.)

Widget has been indicating system-wide distruption for a while now, it seems to be broken.

This excellent widget was most helpful during the tragedy of June 22.

Thanks for the comment @suzi9874. I've been on vacation since right after they re-launched the WMATA site and hadn't seen the break yet. I fixed it and it's nice that WMATA provided us with a headline and description, so I've adjusted the display just a bit. Let me know if you have any other issues with the widget!

Three cheers for the D.C. Chumby community! This is just what I need. Thanks.
