If you leave the field empty, you'll stay in the main (public) room. Commands : - swipe left : previous message - swipe right : next message - swipe up : new message - swipe down : hide keyboard I also predefined a few rooms : - sports - music - books
Click the widget to enable audio if the widget uses it. Note that modern browser security may prevent the widget from loading content from other web sites, however the widget should be able to load properly on the chumby devices. These previews are possible through the use of Ruffle ‐ note that Ruffle is still a work in progress, and not all Flash features are implemented, so some widgets may not perform optimally.

Hi Peter, Have set-up as described, but still no joy. Have setup the development environment and tracing, though. I can get some logging and we can continue on the forum? I appreciate the effort by the way :)

@coops.at.work OK I have the workaround for you : Set twice the widget in the same channel (no other widget in the channel), with the same duration for both. The widget will then check for new messages every time it loads :-) pit

@coops.at.work Yes you are right, there is some caching going on with the XML source file. I tried to update the widget to force the reload of the XML. In theory it should work but I have no time to test on the Chumby tonight. pit

Hello Peter, I've set up a private room, and can post to it from your website. I've run the app, with the duration set to 15 secs. All works a treat! However :( I can't get the latest message on the Chumby until I reload the channel. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Sorry for the Noob comment - this app is really good. Like mbeggs I'm using the app to communicate with my Nan. It seem like this is the only app / device combo of it's kind!

@Theodore : since v3, yes you can post messages from Chumby : swipe up to bring up the keyboard, swipe down to hide it. It's not real-time chat however, so your messages usually appear only when you refresh the widget (so if you do not see your message at once, no need to post it again).

Hello MarkR, I am happy to post the code, but then we should move the discussion to the Chumby forums. Do you already have a login ? I will open a new topic there.

Hi - very interested in using this app, but with the messages hosted on a different site - is it possible to get this (code/application?) to pull data from a private/other website?

@mbeggs : I'd like to do that in the future, but probably not a near future, as I do not have the software to do it :). If anyone is interested in finishing the work I am happy to put the source code available.

Peter, thank you so much for your help that worked. Your widget is great it lets me send messages to my 83 year old mother, she loves it. Just an FYI, the reason I couldnt get it to work is I was trying to do everything on the device. Is that something that could be added? Thanks Again!

@mbeggs : - Click 'add to channel' on this page (above) - next screen : choose the channel you want the widget to be added to. - Now you should get to a window where you can set the default duration and the 'username'. (that would be the 'room' created on the website). Click on 'done' So maybe you simply need to delete the widget from the Infocast and follow the steps again... I hope we'll get that to work.p

Thank you Peter, So on my infocast I see the messages from your test room you have setup. The problem I'm haveing is I dont know where to go to add my room I set up from http://www.darwah-group.com/ppp/concept/chumby/ . In your comments above you say "- In the configuration widget use the same name as the room you created " I dont see where to go to configure the widget with my room info. Thank you.

@brian.millan : unfortunately, to delete messages you need to go to the 'web' (see link above) side as of now. It cannot be done on the Chumby/Infocast. Maybe in the future... @mbeggs : please describe the problem, I'll try to guide you or fix it. Kind regards, peter

Hello again! I added the 'delete' functionality on the web-side. It also deletes the pictures from the server. I see you had issues with file uploads, this should be solved too. I also added the possiblity to delete a whole 'chat-room'. For the 'from' IP, it works on Chumby One and I have no way to test on Infocast (the values are saved indeed). For now I can unfortunately not debug that...

Hello Brian, Thanks for the comment. I hope it works as you wish, it's very basic though. But all your feedback is welcome, I'll try to make changes if you have suggestions.
