is anyone else having trouble customizing the messages on the blimp I type it in but there is no OK button so that it keeps the message????

Sun rise and set have become way too early in EDT. Are they always set the same times, regardless of the season? Sorry, but haven't used this app too long, don't know if that's the way it's supposed to be. Thanks.

@tksu22 - there is no need to input your zip code. This app gets the time from the "time/date" settings from your chumby. The blank box in the customization window of the app is used for showing text in the blimp (which flies across the screen). -chumby support

Hello. It does not seem to work with my zip code, 21044 (Columbia, MD) or other zip codes in my area. This looks like a great app, is there a fix for this?

It's wonderful! Why don't add a rainbow? It could be nice!

I have this as my default clock and I love it! I do wish that the lightning effect was not on there because I hate the flashing. I love the other effects, though, especially the Space Invaders one.

This is awesome i love it! Maybe you could add different weather stuff like snow and rain. Oh, and a parachuting dude would be cool to!

How do you configure the blimp message? I've gone to customize and can type in text - but there is no confirm button - Hitting the "X" button is the only option and it doesn't save the text?

  • tvkiii

I fill out note for blimp but don't see any way to set it or exit except the X.

A truly wonderful widget. Easy to read and functional as a clock; the slow moving clouds are soothing to look at; the various other happenings are delightful little surprises. Please resist the temptation to cram in too many happenings: a great part of their charm is the delight of just catching one as it goes by.

McConnell - I've had my Chumby for over a year now and just discovered this clock a couple of weeks ago...it's the best one out there! Nice work! I too would love the localized weather thing (i.e. - rain/lightning/snow/sun/etc. on the chumby depending on the weather in my local area).

McConnell, How is the update coming? We can't wait to see what you've got in the works!

Thank you McConnell-- I can't wait for the more readable (color text, I hope!) version of your masterpiece. PS: My wife and I noticed that larger text would be helpful as well, for that "see across the room" readability! PPS: You are my hero!

I think this is the type of widget that can make the platform, a "killer app" for the Chumby, because it provides useful information in an ever-changing and interesting way. The more information that can be delivered in this ambient mode (meaning, at a glance, not with a lot of detail which is the Chumby's weakness), the more successful it will be.

I have to say I am addicted to this widget but was upset this morning I expected to see shamrock clouds or a rainbow...:( Don't worry still loveing this widget but some spring things would be great like some ballons or a hot air ballon or maybe the numbers made out of flowers or grass and maybe a kite or 2, maybe some rain drops on the face of the chumby I don't know your the expert!!! Keep up the great widgets!!!!!

davidrliu, I'm working on an update for this widget. Legibility of the daytime clock will be addressed! @sharby, It's a highly requested feature, I'm hoping to include this soon! Glad you're both enjoying the widget. Thanks for the comments, keep watching for an update.

McConnell-- this is the best clock widget in my opinion (and I've tried them all!). It is *ALMOST* perfect. One change is really needed however: during the daytime hours, it is very hard to read the time since the letters and numbers are in white. Could you please add a feature to configure the color of the day and night text? Day text could be chosen from a palette of dark colors (black, dark red, blue, purple, brown, green, etc.); night colors could be chosen from a palette of light colors (white, light blue, yellow, light orange, pink, light green, etc.). This feature would improve readability and would also help us color-conscious Chumbiholics color coordinate with our rooms! Thank you so much for a wonderful widget!

This widget is one of my favorites. It is really nicely designed. A suggestion: It would be extra useful if it could change its cloud cover/weather behavior based on rudimentary info from a weather service so that the ambient display can better match local reality (locale would need to be entered). I'm talking real simple stuff here - if there is a chance of rain, increase cloud cover, if thunderstorms then change mode to lightning etc.

If the message on the blimp can all fit on the blimp's screen at once, it shouldn't have to scroll

New sky happening idea: the sky spins out of control (night-day-night...)

  • McConnell

    – February 15 2009

In response to luvcrafts perfect storm, I've the updated the widget to include a very simple control panel. Touch the screen to view options (disaster, reload & randomize sky happenings, watch storm).

  • McConnell

    – February 15 2009

luvcraft, do you have the widget in its own channel? If so add a second instance of the widget. Each time the widget reloads it looks for a new sky happening... If that's not the case, try restarting your Chumby. If you're still having problems, let me know, and I'll dig around a bit deeper.

Mine has been lightninging for several days straight now, but when I view the virtual widget on my computer there's no lightning. Is there any way to make it stop?

  • McConnell

    – February 12 2009

Thanks for all of the great feedback and suggestions. I've updated the widget with cows jumping over the moon and a few other things... watch for some strong daytime weather! iyacyas, some great suggestions, I'll try and work them in on the next update (although the localized weather patterns might be outside of my capabilities at this point).

  • iyacyas

    – February 11 2009

tie in a localized weather feed (input zip code in the config of the widget) then, allow the weather to change based on the weather outside..similiar in concept to the lunar eclipse from Martix...other thoughts: hot air ballons, historical planes and blimps, kite, numbered sheep but only after 10pm... ;) Great stuff McConnell. Keep it coming.

OK way cool!!! Couldn't sleep this morning and rolled over and saw E.T. love it!!!! I also think that I saw a rain storm the other day that was way cool don't know how often thoes happen but can't wait for my husband to see it!!! Very cool this is my favorite widget ever!!!

  • McConnell

    – January 31 2009

@adrian. Yes. The best way to see them is to let the widget rotate (most happenings count on the widget being refreshed.

I have a good idea - if you see a sky happening, you can tap it and it will give you a payper clip in chumbyland.

  • theMartix

    – January 24 2009
